FULL TIME STOCKPERSON REQUIRED SCOTTISH BORDERS.
Required from April 2025 onwards on a 2600 acre upland farm with a herd of Aberdeen Angus cross Hereford suckler cows.
Following the retirement of our current stockman, we are seeking to employ a skilled and experienced stockperson to progress the development of our herd. The Stockperson must be able to care for cattle throughout their lives, calve cows and identify health concerns. Operation of tractors and associated equipment, diet feeders and fork lift truck essential for shed feeding in winter. Working both independently and as a member of the farm team, the Stockperson will be able to carry out on going farm maintenance work. We will support training and development needs.
A whole farm grazing management approach is in place and the stockperson must actively support these principles working alongside the owners as we transition to regenerative farming. Innovative thinking is encouraged.
We have recently installed new handling facilities based on Temple Grandins half tub, race and crush. We actively select for good temperament and practice low stress livestock handling.
We are looking for a committed person who is reliable, responsible, enthusiastic and trustworthy.
Non-Smoking Accommodation provided in a 3 bedroom house if required. Full driving licence.
