We are a 2000 acre ring-fenced privately owned estate based on the AONB North Wessex Downs close to Hungerford, Berkshire. The estate comprises of a 1000 acre in hand arable unit on chalk soil, plus 250 acres contracting for a neighbour, 600 acres of chalk grassland, 400 acres of woodland, plus let/ holiday property and sporting interests.

The estate is seeking a skilled arable operator who will be responsible for spraying and combine operation, however would also be capable of carrying out all other arable operations as required including but not limited to - fertiliser spreading, drilling (cereals & maize), telehandler work, cultivating, rolling, slug pelleting, grain store work etc. We run the most up to date machinery and technology, with a combination of John Deere, Kramer, Horsch and Vaderstad equipment. The John Deere tractors and combine run the John Deere RTK system, so knowledge of this is an advantage. The role would also include general estate maintenance work outside of the peak arable periods, to include forestry work (woodchipping, chainsawing), grassland fencing/ fence repairs, topping grassland, digger work, planting new hedge rows, landscaping/ garden work on let properties etc. We run a small friendly team of the estate manager, long term farm worker, plus additional harvest help, with everyone mucking into jobs together and covering each other. This would suit someone looking for a stable long term position on an estate with a diverse amount of work to keep busy with, but also value a good work/life balance. The role can be offered with one of the estate cottages if required.
