Herdsperson (Milking and Calf Rearing)

We are a well-established pedigree Jersey Herd based in the heart of North Oxfordshire, renowned for our commitment to exceptional animal welfare and top-quality milk production.

Our modern facilities include a 24/24 herringbone milking parlour equipped with ADF and a shedding gate for efficient operation. Our herd is TMR fed to ensure optimal nutrition and maximise herd performance.

We are seeking a reliable, dedicated, conscientious and passionate herdsperson to join our team and play a vital role in the management of our 200-cow pedigree Jersey herd. This role would suit an individual person or could be shared between a couple.

Key Responsibilities:

• Milking: Perform regular milking routines and ensure the welfare and cleanliness of the herd.


• Calf Rearing: Oversee the care, feeding, and health of young stock.


• Herd Health Monitoring: Monitor herd health regularly, identifying and addressing any issues promptly to maintain herd performance.


• Farm Maintenance: Assist with general farm upkeep to ensure smooth operations across the farm.


• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, up-to-date digital records of herd performance, health, and breeding.

Skills and Experience:

• Previous experience in milking and calf rearing


• Strong understanding of herd health and welfare


• Ability to work individually and as part of a team


• Good communication skills and attention to detail


• Able to drive and operate farm machinery
