Description

We are an organic sheep dairy, currently have 1400 total sheep across two sites, with a mix of Dorset, Friesian and Lacunae ewes. We are a large team around 15 members of staff, who are involved in various aspects of the farm from milking, tractor driving and shepherding.

The farm is taking a new direction transitioning to a more data driven approach where we are digitizing all records and using EIDs to help inform breeding decisions. You will not be expected to be completely literate with this approach but willing to learn.

We are looking for a full-time milker, you will be expected to milk 2x day am/pm with a 5 day on 2 days off working pattern. The parlour is a 24 a side rapid exit parlour and the ewes currently average 1.5L a day for a 210 day lactation. You will be expected to have a passion for sheep health and welfare as well as a good understanding of livestock husbandry. The job requires a keen eye for detail and cleanliness, you must be able to work independently and amongst others. Full training will be provided.

You will report to the head shepherd

Your minimum hours will be 40 hours per week

Experience with sheep and working in a dairy parlour would be beneficial but isnt essential.
