An experienced and conscientious stockperson (male or female) wanted for a full time role on an organic beef and sheep farm near Thame, Oxfordshire.
We run a small herd of pedigree Longhorns and a small flock of Gotland sheep on our regenerative, organic pastoral farm. The livestock are finished on farm and the meat is sold directly to customers.
Main duties:
You will have full responsibility for the welfare of the animals.
Other duties include simple record keeping; possible help with direct sales; keeping the farm in good order with seasonal jobs including fence maintenance, tree work and ragwort pulling and perhaps hedge laying and tree or hedge planting. Basic machinery and equipment maintenance.
The farm is focused on sustainability with an aim to increase wildlife, minimise fossil fuels and produce high-welfare, organic meat. Future projects might include managing for Biodiversity Net Gain and Agroforestry.
The candidate:
If you like livestock, wildlife and physical work, this could be the job for you. If you like sitting on a tractor or gator, it is not! I want someone who is conscientious and careful and who really likes looking after animals.
One bedroom accommodation available. This is suitable for a couple, perhaps with a young child. A part time role could be available for the other person.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, regenerative farmer who will enjoy working on this sustainable family farm.
