Description

Progressive, well equipped family farm looking for skilled, experienced drill and sprayer operator. Responsible for Drilling, Spraying, Managing Grain store, fertiliser spreading, machinery servicing and repairs to high agricultural and environmental standards including efficiency and safety. This is a long term position in a safe, well maintained working environment with generous pay and conditions, £13-£14.50 per hour plus overtime rate.

23 days Annual Leave. In time, this role has the potential to lead into a more managerial position.

The hours are good but not excessive allowing scope for flexibility and rest at peak times.

Accomodation can be available after 6 months

The farm is 300ha in central Essex growing wheat, barley, OSR and beans. There is a wide variety of work and plenty of opportunities to learn or put other skills to use.

The job requires self motivation to work alone and cooperation to work as part of a small friendly team. An enthusiastic attitude is essential, continual learning and improving are required to achieve excellent standards of work and machinery condition.

Workshop skills beyond vehicle servicing are required, including an eye and ear for detail to foresee breakage. Good organisational skills are needed to plan a program of preventative maintenance and repairs. An interest and aptitude in building work and fabrication would be helpful.

Good communication skills, watching, listening, giving accurate descriptions and clear handwriting are required for logistics, record keeping, ordering and chasing parts deliveries.

The job requires physical fitness for regular climbing in and out of machinery, lifting and carrying 20kg

PA1, PA2 and teleporter certificates are required (min1 year). Other qualifications such as PA4, working at height, ATV, vermin control would be helpful but not essential. Ongoing and further training opportunities will be given.
