Other equipment experience

In July 2023, I worked for 5 days on a 15,000 acre arable farm driving a Massey Ferguson 8S.245. I primarily carted barley between grain stores using a Richard Western SF16 trailer. I also moved a water bowser between locations.

In summer 2022, I worked on a 600 acre arable farm. I primarily operated a Deutz-Fahr Series 6 tractor, although also gained some experience with a New Holland T7-270 tractor. I mostly operated the Deutz-Fahr with a flail mower attachment. I also operated the Deutz-Fahr and New Holland with grain trailers. I worked extensively with a modern JCB telehandler, using both fork and bucket attachments. I used the telehandler to move a combine header between fields, push up grain in the store and load grain lorries. I managed the grain store during harvest.

In July 2021, I was trained to bale haylage using a modern New Holland T7 tractor and Lely-Welger small baler by a horse-feed supplier. Unfortunately bad weather meant I was unable to build on the training to gain further experience.

In March 2021, I completed the LANTRA Awards Certificate of Competence in Tractor Driving. The course modules were Mounted Implements, Power Take Off, Safe Tractor Operation and Trailed Implements. I gained basic experience operating a John Deere 6430, McCormick CX75 and Massey Ferguson 1540 on the course.

In May 2021, I completed the LANTRA Awards Certificate of Competence in Rough Terrain Telescopic Lift Truck Operation (without stabilisers). I gained basic experience of operating a JCB 526s (with forks attachment) on the course.

In March 2022, I completed the LANTRA Awards Certificate of Competence in Arm Mounted Cutting Equipment. I gained basic experience operating the McConnell PA470 and McConnel Swingtrim cutters on the course.
