(Yard scraping and muck spreading with a rotor spreader and a rear discharge, chain harrowing, rolling, sowing fertiliser, mowing silage with a 10 ft mower conditioner, tedding with a 4/6 rotor tedder, rowing up with a Claas twin/4 rotor, hauling silage/maize with a 16 ton trailer, hedgecutting with a Bomford hedgecutter).

Large amount of experience of beef, dairy and sheep farming.

Beef cattle:

I have over 30 years experience in farming with Aberdeen Angus, Hereford and Limousin cattle. Daily feeding, scraping out and bedding down. Checking water tanks. Walking through cattle twice daily to carry out basic health checks. Indoor and Outdoor calving, carrying out 3 hourly checks at calving time, calf tagging, castration of bull calves with rubber rings. Administering medication, worming, de-horning with hot iron (including administering anaesthetic). Handling cattle during TB testing at my own farm and at neighbouring farms, moving cattle during the Summer months and daily checks throughout the Summer.

Dairy:

10 years experience of milking my 70 British Friesian cows, milked twice a day through an abreast milking parlour. Relief milking of 100 Holstein Friesians through a herringbone parlour and 600 Holstein Friesians through a 60 point rotary parlour.

Sheep:

I have 20 years experience of sheep farming, including Texel crosses, Suffolk crosses and Mule crosses.

Carrying out daily checks at tupping time, gathering sheep at scanning time, daily checks and feeding throughout the Winter, worming, foot trimming, administering all types of medication, checking sheep 3 hourly, day and night, during lambing, penning up sheep and newborn lambs, providing feed, water and bedding down to ewes in pens. Castration and tail docking with rubber rings. Fly spray administration and checking for maggots during the Summer months. Weighing lambs and transporting them to market.

I have lived and worked on our family farm in South Wales all my life and have had much experience in all aspects of farming. I also work 8 hours per week for M and S in the warehouse which I enjoy and have gained more experience of working in a team.
