I have experience in all cultivation and grass land work mostly John Deere and Fendt tractors I have several seasons combine experience and have used forage harvesters and potato harvesters all my life, hedge trimming and forestry work
Im a very experienced shepherd and stockman having run my own mixed beef sheep and calf at foot dairy farm. As a result of this I have extensive experience in both lambing and calving. And all associated record keeping. Including developing breeding plans and farm plans in general. I am up to date with current software herdwatch farm matters etc.. I have worked in a variety of systems and sizes of farm. From being head shepherd with over 5,000 ewes in New Zealand all the way down to recently helping set up a small organic unit with 70 ewes and 12 cows. Whilst running our tenant farm I worked alongside my partner keeping 20 pedigree Angus cattle alongside 180 commercial cows mainly Hereford x and 300 llyen sheep 20 pigs and 600 free range laying and table birds. We also started a small calf at foot dairy unit consisting of 30 jersey cows to produce milk/ yogurt and a small amount of ice cream. During the last four years of contracting I have been fortunate enough to help out on various sizes of unit from larger commercial flocks of over 1,000 ewes to small holder size enterprises the same with cattle I have been working with large finishing units with more than 600 head and smaller regenerative projects. As for dairy Experience I have worked in rotary herringbone and robotic parlours with up to 600 cows. Im happy to milk solo or as a team I have my AI ticket although in honesty it has been four or five years since Ive used it regularly I am a competent foot trimmer and happy to treat and diagnose common ailments in all live stock.
