Both livestock and arable have been very much focused on a regenerative farming method. I have also taken on several plantations within the farming and have managed these by using Shropshire sheep and highland cattle.
As you can see from my previous employments I am a fully qualified butcher and have also set up a game larder/butchery to process our own produce for the owner.
2012-2022
Livestock and Diversification Manager
In this role I have been required to undertake a particularly diverse
range of dynamic and intuitive challenges as the business has evolved
according to environmental/market changes and conditions.
The role initially required the sole management and care of 40 cattle, 100
breeding ewes and 1,200 acres of pasture. Having seen an opportunity in
the market and the potential of the holding, I successfully grew this business
to a herd of 2,200 cattle and 2000 breeding ewes with an onsite butchery.
Alongside this, I was responsible for the budgeting, planning and building of
all required buildings utilizing all the space and resources available. I also
worked to improve the grassland with use of best farming practices and
organic materials.
In the expansion of this business, I was mindful of the potential future uses
of the holding and worked to ensure that all investments could be utilized
and transferable to a range of future endeavours.
In 2019, the herd of cattle unfortunately contracted Bovine TB in an already
challenging market. Here a decision was made to sell all cattle on the
holding and shift the focus onto Sheep and the diversification of the farm
buildings.
Here my role has evolved into the management of all areas of the farms
diversification, including the management of tenants, properties, proposals
and schemes alongside the continued sole management of the
Sheep.

2012
Livestock Business (Own), Bedfordshire
On return from Argentina, I took on the rental of an area of land to establish
my own livestock enterprise with 1000 breeding ewes and 100 suckler cattle.
This enterprise came to an end after 5 years due to the landlord selling the
land and the tenancy terminating.
2007 Cattle Ranches, Argentina
I successfully obtained a scholarship to work with beef cattle on a ranch in
Argentina for 9 months. Here I worked on all aspects of the farm business
management and the care of the livestock.
2000-
2007
Livestock Business (own), Bedfordshire
I rented an area of land, in addition to my role at the Butchers, to establish
my own livestock enterprise. Here I established a successful small
enterprise with a combination of cattle, sheep and poultry.

Butchery apprenticeship, Milton Keynes

for the trade. Once fully qualified I helped to take the business from just
catering trade into retail as well as processing stock for local farmers to sell

achieving turnover of £40,000 per week processing 80 pigs, 40 lambs and
15 beef carcasses per week for local farmers.

Personal Statement
I am a conscientious, confident individual who thrives on a challenge. I take pride in all
that I do, working with a positive, can-do attitude constantly reviewing potential
opportunities but always remaining grounded and approachable. I have had hard
working old fashioned ethics instilled into me from a young age, which I value.
Having grown up on our familys Dairy farm in Leighton Buzzard, I found a passion for
working with livestock and the rural way of life. From here I have worked hard to
develop my knowledge, skills and understanding of the industry and I am confident
that I have the ability and experience to establish a successful livestock business,
constantly working towards future development and diversification.
In my current role I have experienced 3 years of a Higher Level Stewardship where
we ran Wiltshire Horn sheep and Long Horn cattle. Both of these I turned into
profitable flocks and herds which we sold through our own butchery and created a
great local demand for the produce.
I have also had the opportunity to build a main hub for the livestock enterprise of the
estate including silage clamps, outside yards and many livestock buildings overseeing
and organising every element of the build from drainage to electrics, concreting. I
have also refreshed the Estates machinery and equipment since being in my present
role, doing it in a strategic and viable financial way that brings us up to all Health and
Safety standards and continue to refresh as and when needed.
During my time at the Estate we have had to review staffing requirements to ensure
maximum productivity. I have built up a well respected and efficient team with a likeminded work ethic.
Since losing the cattle in 2019 we decided to utilise the cattle buildings for commercial
space. I have overseen every part of this project including design, procurement,
managing the budget, managing sub contractors, hands on work through to finding
tenants and negotiating terms.
To date circa 200,000 square feet has been let out to over 40 businesses generating
an income of approximately £1 million per annum.
Also I have created a small retail village using old redundant stables and barns which
offers a desirable destination for local people and tourists to visit (butchers, florist,
garden centre, patisserie, caf, beauty salon, barbers and many more).
I have also become heavily involved in my local community, fostering a relationship
between the estate and the local community which was not good when I arrived. I was
elected on to the Parish Council in 2019 and have a good relationship with other local
groups.
I got married in 2017 and have three children aged 13, 9 and 7. I am family orientated
and my wife is supportive of my endeavours.
