Job for Suckler Herd Stock Person/GFW for a Hill Farm in <->Perthshire<->

The position is for an experienced stockperson who is happy to work alone or with the managing partner.

Day to day operations on the farm would include cattle care, tractor work and general maintenance to the farm and buildings.

We have 100 head of commercial suckler cows, 2 bulls and x followers.  We are BVD negative and are working towards becoming Johnes Free.  We calve in both autumn and summer operating a tight calving pattern.  The Stockperson would be responsible for the health and wellbeing of the entire herd, calving, breeding, feeding, dehorning, and preparing the calves for market.  They would be working closely with the Managing Partner on paperwork, testing, use of drugs and vets, and controlling costs in order to maximise profits.

Tractor work – where possible we use our own equipment. Tasks would involve ploughing, rolling, topping, muck spreading, grassland management, mowing, baling and spraying (bringing in contractors when necessary). Maintenance, greasing and repairs to all equipment.

Other general duties would include fencing, buildings maintenance, drainage, gutters, tree clearances and cutting logs, to keep the farm looking good and working well.  We have recently invested in a new shed, handling system and loading bay.

Having the following tickets will be helpful to an applicant:

Full clean UK drivers licence essential, Chainsaw, ATV, Animal Transport by Road, and the relevant tickets for tractor work listed above.
